Dr. Isaac Shiri won the IEEE Bruce Hasegawa Young Investigator Award in Medical Imaging Science, which was presented at the IEEE Medical Imaging Conference in Yokohama, Japan, on 4–8 November 2025. The award is given annually by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) to a young individual in recognition of significant and innovative technical contributions to the field of medical imaging science. The selection criteria are based on the candidate’s contributions to medical imaging science, as demonstrated by technical merit, impact, and proficiency. Dr. Shiri was nominated by Professor Zaidi from the University of Geneva, a leading expert in quantitative molecular imaging and medical physics. The award citation reads: “For contributions to artificial intelligence and radiomics in multimodal imaging that have advanced quantitative PET and SPECT imaging,” and he has been recognized for his contributions to AI and medical imaging, including deep learning–based image correction and reconstruction, federated learning, and AI-based Radiomics and Radiogenomics for improving patient outcomes. He currently serves as the Head of the AI in Cardiovascular Medicine (AI-CVM) Group and Laboratory in the Department of Cardiology and Department of Digital Medicine (DDM) at the Bern University Hospital and University of Bern. The AI-CVM was established in 2023 by Dr. Shiri and Professor Gräni to advance AI–driven cardiovascular medicine through innovative research and clinical translation, contributing to the Emerging Technologies program within the DDM.
